Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for July. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased 1.1% in July. The largest increases were in the petroleum and coal product as well as chemical subsectors.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 68.1%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 94.4%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the July reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.
Note to readers
The percentage change is calculated using seasonally adjusted data in current dollars.
This flash estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of July, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on September 16.
