This infographic provides an overview of the diversity and demographic characteristics of the Muslim population in Canada. It explores topics such as the distribution of the Muslim population and its proportion of the total population by provinces and territories, distribution of the total population and Muslim population by age group, most frequent racialized groups, most frequent countries of birth of Muslims born outside Canada, and most frequent languages most often spoken at home by the Muslim population in Canada. The data are derived from the 2001 and 2021 Censuses of Population and includes persons who reported being Muslim n.o.s. (not otherwise specified) or provided specific responses such as Ahmadi Muslim, Ibadi Muslim, Shi’a Muslim, Sunni Muslim, or Muslim n.i.e. (not included elsewhere) to the religious affiliation question in the Census of Population.
