Foreign investors added $709 million of Canadian securities to their holdings in June, the first investment since January. Meanwhile, Canadian investors acquired $9.0 billion of foreign securities, led by purchases of US shares and non-US bonds.
As a result, international transactions in securities generated a net outflow of funds of $8.3 billion from the Canadian economy in June. This brought the total outflow in the second quarter to $43.7 billion, a level comparable with the first quarter.
