Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for December. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased 0.5% in December. The largest increases were in the food subsector and the motor vehicle industry group.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 63.7%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 92.7%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the December reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.

This advance estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of December, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on February 16, 2026.
