Total sales of refined petroleum products to end-users stood at 84.4 million cubic metres in 2021, an increase of 4.6% compared with sales in 2020.
Sales by fuel type
Motor gasoline (48.8%) and diesel fuel oil (35.1%) made up the majority of sales of refined petroleum products in 2021. Sales of motor gasoline increased by 3.0% year over year to 41.1 million cubic metres, while sales of diesel fuel oil increased by 6.5% to 29.6 million cubic metres.
Sales of aviation turbo fuel (kerosene) totalled 4.7 million cubic metres in 2021, up 7.9% from the previous year. Sales of light fuel oil (heating oil) dropped by 10.7% to 1.4 million cubic metres in 2021.
Sales to end-users
In 2021, refinery sales to gasoline stations accounted for 20.6% of all refined petroleum product sales, while road transportation accounted for 7.3% and air transportation accounted for 4.1%.
Refineries sold 14.8 million cubic metres of motor gasoline and 2.6 million cubic metres of diesel fuel oil to gasoline stations in 2021.
Sales of all fuels to the road transportation industry decreased to 6.1 million cubic metres in 2021, down 3.0% from 2020.
Refinery sales to the air transportation industry increased 7.1% to 3.5 million cubic metres in 2021 compared with levels in 2020.
