Primary energy production posted a 5.2% increase in September, with gains from crude oil (+6.8%) and natural gas (+5.1%), despite lower energy prices in September. According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), gasoline prices were down 7.4% in September compared with August, while according to the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), prices for energy and petroleum products fell 2.5% in September for a third consecutive month. Continued increases in production and supply of some energy products were contributing factors to the recent decreases in energy prices.
