Canada's monthly international trade in services deficit widened from $1.1 billion in March to $1.2 billion in April. Overall, exports of services were down 0.5% to $14.4 billion, as declines in commercial services (-0.8%) and travel services (-1.3%) were moderated by an increase in transportation services (+3.0%). Imports were essentially unchanged at $15.6 billion. Higher imports of commercial services (+1.3%) were almost entirely offset by lower travel services (-3.2%) and transportation services (-0.3%). The decline in travel services imports in April occurred following high levels reported at the start of 2023.
