Highlights
Major Canadian airlines carried 6.4 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in May, up 22.0% from the same month in 2022. This is the highest monthly recovery of passenger numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic started, at 5.6% below the May 2019 level.
With traffic at 17.4 billion passenger-kilometres and capacity at 20.3 billion available seat-kilometres, the passenger load factor was 85.5% in May 2023.
Operating revenue earned in May exceeded the pre-pandemic level for the sixth consecutive month.
