Canadian manufacturers produced 1.0 billion cigarettes in August 2023, down 11.6% from July 2023. Cigarette production was 25.4% lower compared with August 2022.
In August 2023, the total number of cigarettes sold increased 7.8% to 1.4 billion from July 2023. The level of sales was 2.6% lower compared with August 2022.
