On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector were up by 1.4% to $7.8 billion in July. Sales increased at limited-service restaurants (+1.6%), full-service restaurants (+1.3%) and drinking places (+2.2%) in the month, while special food services (-0.3%) saw a slight decline. Ontario (+1.2%), Quebec (+1.9%) and Alberta (+1.7%) reported the largest increases in July in dollar terms, whereas Nova Scotia (+3.5%), Newfoundland and Labrador (+3.2%) and New Brunswick (+2.6%) saw the largest percentage increases.
