    • From 1998 to 2008, household disposable income in Canada increased an average of 3.5%, compared with a 3.1% increase in the United States.
    • The net saving rate of Canadians in 2007 was 11.0% of gross domestic product (GDP). Norway had the highest net saving rate at 26.4% and Greece had the lowest at -4.4%.
    • In 2008, Canadian households spent 55.7% of GDP on everyday needs, such as food and clothing, compared with 70.5% in the United States and 62.5% across the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
