Data for variables Soil erosion, Soil organic carbon change, Relative organic carbon, Annual phosphorus balance, Days of soil cover, risk of salinization are from a special tabulation of Agri-Environmental Indicators from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Grazing, Herbicide, Pesticide and Fungicide variables were estimated using the Interpolated Census of Agriculture for years 1986 to 2016. For 2021, the Agri-Environmental Spatial Data product was used. Estimates of agroecosystem condition by ecodistrict, ecoregion and ecoprovince were produced.

Total livestock density was estimated as the sum of the number of cattle, goats, sheep, deer, elk, bison, horses and llamas divided by the sum of tame or seeded improved pasture and natural land for pasture areas. The number of grazing cattle was estimated by subtracting the variables heifers for dairy herd replacement, dairy cows and steers 1 year and over from the total cattle and calves variable. If a certain variable was not available for a certain year it was simply omitted from the calculation.

Herbicide, insecticide and fungicide area were simply the value of the herbicide, insecticide and fungicide area variables, respectively.
