Gross domestic product by industry, November 2011
Real gross domestic product edged down 0.1% in November, following no growth in October and monthly increases from June to September. Most of the November decline was accounted for by lower output in the energy sector.

Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, December 2011
From November to December, the Industrial Product Price Index declined 0.7% and the Raw Materials Price Index was down 2.4%. These declines were mainly the result of lower petroleum and metals prices.

Payroll employment, earnings and hours, November 2011 
In November, average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $883.96, virtually unchanged from the previous month. On a year-over-year basis, earnings rose 2.2%.

Retail sales in November rose for a fourth consecutive month, increasing 0.3%. Gains were reported in 7 of 11 subsectors.

Job vacancies, three-month average ending in September 2011
Canadian businesses had, on average, 248,000 job vacancies in the three month period ending in September 2011. For all sectors combined, the ratio of unemployment to job vacancies was 3.3. In other words, there were 3.3 unemployed people in Canada for every job vacancy.

Consumer Price Index, December 2011
Consumer prices rose 2.3% in the 12 months to December, following a 2.9% increase in November. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.2% in December.

Wholesale sales fell 0.4% to $49.0 billion in November, following six months of consecutive increases. Lower sales in the agricultural supplies industry and the motor vehicle industry contributed to the decline.

Study: Trends in the prevalence of cancer, 1997 to 2008
Five-year cancer prevalence rates for most cancers increased from January 1, 1997, to January 1, 2008. Increases were relatively large for liver and thyroid cancer, while rates declined for cancers of the larynx and cervix. The biggest disparity between the sexes was for cancer of the lung, for which rates declined slightly among men, but continued to increase among women.
