The November 2012 online issue of Health Reports, released today, contains three articles.

The first article, "Health behaviour changes after diagnosis of chronic illness among Canadians aged 50 or older," examines changes in smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption and diet in a representative sample of Canadians aged 50 or older diagnosed with a major chronic condition. Results are from 12 years of longitudinal data from the Canadian National Population Health Survey.

For more information on this article, contact Pamela Ramage-Morin (613-951-1760; pamela.ramage-morin@statcan.gc.ca), Health Analysis Division.

The second article, "The physical and mental health of Inuit children of teenage mothers," compares physical health and behavioural outcomes for 2- to 5-year-old Inuit children of teenage (began childbearing at ages 12 to 19) and older (began childbearing at age 25 or older) mothers. This study is based on the results of the 2006 Aboriginal Children's Survey.

For more information on this article, contact Anne Guèvremont (613-951-2432; anne.guevremont@statcan.gc.ca), Health Analysis Division.

The third article, "Iron sufficiency of Canadians," uses data from cycle 2 (2009 to 2011) of the Canadian Health Measures Survey to update estimates of the iron status of Canadians. These data allow for the examination of associations between selected socio-demographic and health variables and measures of iron status.
