Travel between Canada and overseas countries reached record highs in July.
Residents of overseas countries made 473,000 trips to Canada in July, up 2.5% from June and the highest figure since record keeping began in 1972.
Travel from Canada to overseas countries also set a new record with 979,000 trips in July, up 1.6% from June.
Travel from Canada to the United States decreased 0.9% to 3.8 million trips in July, mainly as a result of a 2.1% decline in same-day car trips.
Travel from the United States to Canada declined 1.5% in July compared with June. This was due to a decrease in car travel, as US residents took 5.4% fewer overnight car trips and 0.9% fewer same-day car trips to Canada.
