The Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) showed no change in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter.

Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index
In the third quarter, engineering services, the largest component of the AESPI, showed no change from the previous quarter, as most respondents in the industry reported no change in the quarter. For the respondents that did report price variations, a change in market demand was the primary reason for the price movements.
Prices for architectural and landscape architectural services edged up 0.1% in the third quarter, mostly as a result of a change in salary costs.
Prices for the surveying and mapping component recorded a 0.6% decline, mostly attributable to a change in market demand.
Year-over-year change
The aggregate AESPI decreased 1.3% year over year, as a result of lower prices for engineering services (-1.5%) and for surveying and mapping services (-2.0%), which more than offset higher prices for architectural and landscape architectural services (+1.2%).

The Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) is a quarterly survey that collects information on the prices of architectural, engineering, surveying and mapping services.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. Data are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted. Data are available at the Canada level only.
Next release
The AESPI for the fourth quarter of 2015 will be released in March 2016.
