The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index decreased 0.6% in the third quarter. The index has fallen for five consecutive quarters, reflecting the decrease in fuel prices during the same period.
Both the general freight trucking component (-0.8%) and the specialized freight trucking component (-0.3%) posted declines.
Year-over-year change
The index declined 3.1% in the third quarter compared with the same quarter of 2014. The general freight trucking component (-2.5%) and the specialized freight trucking component (-4.7%) also decreased.

Note to readers
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index measures changes over time in prices for the for-hire motor carrier freight services provided by general and specialized freight trucking companies.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. The series are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The indexes are not seasonally adjusted.
Next release
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index for the fourth quarter of 2015 will be released on March 30, 2016.
