Statistics Canada released today the first edition of Canadian Economic News, for the January 2016 reference month. Canadian Economic News is a concise monthly summary of selected Canadian and international economic events and market developments.
It is intended to provide contextual information to support users of the economic data published by Statistics Canada. In identifying specific events or developments, Statistics Canada is not suggesting that these will have a material impact on the published economic data in a particular reference month.
The content in Canadian Economic News is obtained from publicly available news and information sources, and does not reflect any protected information provided to Statistics Canada by survey respondents.
Note to readers
These summaries will be published monthly for the previous reference month, and are being made available on an experimental basis for 2016. The next issue will be published on March 10, 2016.
