Annual demographic estimates by age and sex for census divisions, census metropolitan areas and economic regions as of July 1, 2016, are now available. Revised estimates as of July 1 for the years 2012 to 2015 are also available.
Note to readers
Estimates released today are based on 2011 Census counts adjusted for census net undercoverage and incompletely enumerated Indian reserves to which are added the estimated demographic growth for the period from May 10, 2011, to June 30, 2016.
These estimates are also based on the 2011 Standard Geographical Classification.
These estimates are not to be confused with the 2016 Census population counts that were released on February 8, 2017. It is expected that Statistics Canada's census counts and population estimates differ.
