The Frontier Counts are a key component of Statistics Canada's Tourism Statistics Program and are based on administrative data from the Canada Border Services Agency. These data provide information on the number of border crossings of international travellers for both outbound travel (Canadian residents travelling abroad) and inbound travel (residents of other countries travelling to Canada).

For the release of the January 2018 Frontier Counts (reference month), the existing country classification has been replaced with the most recent Standard Classification of Countries and Areas of Interest (SCCAI 2016).

  Note to readers

Beginning with data for January 2018, data by country or region are now assigned to their current country category according to the 2016 Standard Classification of Countries and Areas of Interest.

Products

Data on international travellers to Canada in January 2018 are now available in csv format from the links below. These csv files represent what can be found in CANSIM tables 427-0001 to 427-0003 for the months since January 2008. Data on international travellers are presented according to the new 2016 Standard Classification of Countries and Areas of Interest country classification. Due to updating of the Frontier Counts data processing system, the seasonally adjusted data found in CANSIM tables 427-0004 to 427-0006 will be released at a later date.
