The number of domestic trips rose 2.1% from 2016 to 328.5 million in 2017. Total expenditures for those trips increased 2.9% to $51.1 billion.
Note to readers
This is the final annual release of the Travel Survey of Residents of Canada.
This survey provided information on domestic travel by Canadian residents and has been replaced in 2018 with the new National Travel Survey (NTS).
The NTS collects information about the domestic and international travel of Canadian residents.
The first release of quarterly data from the 2018 NTS will take place on August 27.
