Pathways indicators for registered apprentices in Canada, 2020

Released: 2022-09-27

Today, Statistics Canada is releasing a research paper entitled "Educational pathways for those who discontinue their apprenticeship programs." This paper looks at those apprentices who registered between 2008 and 2010 and discontinued their programs within six years of registration. Their future interactions with the Canadian postsecondary education system, up to 2020, are then profiled.

New data are also available for the pathway indicators for registered apprentices in Canada. These indicators include information on registered apprentices' certification, continuation and discontinuation rates. Data are available for selected trades and cohorts of newly registered apprentices, by sex, for Canada, all provinces, the Atlantic region and the grouped territories.

The longitudinal data used in this release are derived from a dataset that integrates information from the Registered Apprenticeship Information System and the Postsecondary Student Information System.
