Released: 2022-10-17

A new suite of training videos from the Data Literacy Training Initiative is now available.

In the spring of 2022, the Data Literacy Training Initiative released a video titled "Data ethics: An introduction," and today, Statistics Canada is pleased to offer a deeper dive into the subject of data ethics with the release of "Data ethics part 2: Ethical reviews." This video demonstrates how Statistics Canada applies data ethics principles by raising potential ethical considerations throughout the data journey. it will also walk you through an example of a potential use case.

As part of our "Statistics 101" series, a new video titled "Statistics 101: Statistical Bias" is also available today. This video explains the concept of statistical bias, which occurs when there are problems with the way the data were collected, analyzed or modelled, resulting in statistics that differ systematically from the reality they are trying to measure.

Statistics Canada's Data Literacy Training Initiative provides a wealth of resources aimed at those who are new to data or at those who have some experience with data but may need a refresher or want to expand their knowledge.
