Labour market and income data guide December 2000 Survey of 1990 Graduates
Description: This survey, conducted in 1992, collected information on the socio-economic characteristics of post-secondary graduates, two years after they have graduated. It provided data on labour-market experiences of 1990 graduates in the two years since graduation, focusing on occupation and industry of employment in mid-1992. Who/what was surveyed: Graduates from Canadian public postsecondary education institutions (universities, colleges, trade schools) who graduated or completed the requirements for degrees, diplomas or certificates during the calendar year 1990. Excluded were: graduates from private postsecondary education institutions; completers of continuing-education programs (unless these led to a degree, diploma or certificate); part-time trade course completers and completers of provincial apprenticeship programs How the data were collected: Telephone interviews Geographic detail: Canada, provinces and territories Demographic detail: age, sex, marital status, language spoken at home, mother tongue, dependent children, ethnic origin, place of birth Information collected: University, college and trade/vocational programs, 1990 graduates: education level, major field of study, work experience during the 2 years following graduation, industry, occupation, class of worker, annual pay rate, hours worked and other characteristics of the graduates's job two years after graduation, further studies undertaken since graduation in 1990.
