The amount of electricity generated in Canada totalled 631.7 million megawatt hours (MWh) in 2015, up 0.3% from the previous year.

Most electricity generated in 2015 was derived from hydraulic turbines (59.2%). Other key sources of electricity included combustible fuels (22.1%), nuclear fission (15.1%), and renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, tidal and other sources (3.6%).

From a provincial perspective, Quebec and Ontario generated the largest amounts of electricity in the country. Compared with the previous year, Quebec produced 198.0 million MWh, down 1.0%, while Ontario produced 153.0 million MWh, down 2.6%. These decreases were partially offset by gains in other provinces, most notably in Alberta, where electricity generation rose 7.1% to 82.6 million MWh.
