The Accounting Services Price Index rose by 2.3% in 2015, with every component of the index increasing. This was the largest gain in six years.
Tax preparation services for individuals and unincorporated businesses (+3.5%) posted the largest increase, followed by audit, review, related services and other assurance services (+2.8%) and tax preparation services for corporate clients (+2.7%). Bookkeeping, compilation, payroll and general accounting services rose by 1.1%.
Although the biggest gain was in tax preparation services for individuals and unincorporated businesses, the overall increase in the Accounting Services Price Index was driven by audit, review, related services and other assurance services, the largest component of the index, which also posted its largest advance in six years.
