Stocks of frozen and chilled meats, July 1, 2018

Stocks of frozen and chilled meats in cold storage totalled 128 927 tonnes as of July 1, down 14.2% from April 1.

Compared with April, stocks of frozen pork meats decreased by 20.7%, while stocks of frozen beef meats increased 2.9% on July 1. Meanwhile, stocks of frozen pork meats (+6.3%) and of frozen beef meats (+18.8%) are still higher than they were on July 1, 2017.

Stocks of frozen pork meats remain the largest frozen and chilled meat available in Canada (81 291 tonnes), followed by stocks of frozen beef meats (36 157 tonnes).

Geographically, Quebec continued to hold the largest portion of stocks of frozen pork meats with 55.1% as of July 1, followed by Alberta with 16.4%.
