Today, Statistics Canada is proud to launch a new Culture Statistics Portal. This portal brings together data on the arts, culture, heritage and sports sectors and presents the information in a single interactive website. This site makes it easier for users to find and analyze the wealth of information that Statistics Canada and other Government of Canada sources produce on a broad range of culture-related areas.

The portal allows users to quickly and easily access Statistics Canada data, articles, and infographics on key subtopics, including film and video, sports and leisure, culture and sport economic accounts, online activities related to culture, such as e-commerce, and participation in cultural activities. Users will also find links to data and publications on heritage and the arts from Government of Canada partners as well as international sources.

In the coming weeks, the interactive Arts and Culture Data Viewer will be added to the portal, allowing users to easily break down Statistics Canada arts and culture economic data by geographic area, as well as data on participation in cultural activities by the demographic characteristics of participants. Economic data will include data on output, gross domestic product, employment and trade.

Users are welcome to provide feedback and suggestions directly through a link on the portal. Statistics Canada will continue to update the portal as new data become available.
