The Open Database of Healthcare Facilities (ODHF) has been updated to incorporate feedback from data providers, new sources and enhanced validation methods. This dataset is a product of the Linkable Open Data Environment (LODE), an exploratory initiative to enhance the use and harmonization of open data from municipal, regional, provincial, territorial and federal sources.
Version 1.1 of the ODHF contains data on approximately 7,000 healthcare facilities across Canada. An enhanced deduplication process was used to remove over 1,600 records from version 1.0 of the ODHF. The purpose of this database is to contribute to the availability of harmonized and comprehensive open microdata on healthcare facilities in Canada.
Healthcare facilities in the ODHF are classified into one of three facility types: ambulatory healthcare services, hospitals, and nursing and residential care facilities. The ODHF contains the following information for each facility: name of the facility, source facility type, ODHF facility type, data provider, address of facility, city, province or territory, latitude and longitude, and an index number for each record.
Data were collected from November 2019 to June 2020. The database combines both open and publicly available data.
