In 2023, many commodities, such as pork, chicken and wheat flour, saw increases in Canadian production. However, from July 1, 2022, to July 1, 2023, Canada's population saw one of its highest 12-month growth rates (+2.9%) since 1957 (+3.3%). As a result, many commodities experienced a decline in per capita availability in 2023.
The food availability series includes data on the annual supply and disposition of food in Canada, as well as per capita estimates of the amounts of food available to Canadians.
