On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food service and drinking places subsector increased 1.0% to $6.4 billion in November 2021 compared with the previous month. Sales rose at full-service restaurants (+1.5%), special food services (+4.6%) and limited service eating places (+0.1%). However, sales remained unchanged at drinking places (-0.0%).
Nine of the provinces reported higher sales with the largest increase in dollar terms being in Quebec (+2.4%) and Ontario (+0.7%). Manitoba was the only province that saw a decrease in November (-0.5%).
