This year, April Fool’s Day falls on a Saturday. We usually don’t publish StatsCAN Plus stories on weekends, so you’ll have to settle for some funny statistics instead of a prank!

There were 961.6 million cigarettes (containing tobacco) produced in Canada in January 2023, the third lowest monthly production number on record and following the all-time low of 765.7 million cigarettes produced in December 2022.

March 14 is International Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical constant used in calculating the diameter and area of a circle. Often, these celebrations involve pie.
