Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Flash estimate, February 2024

Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for February. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales rose 0.7% in February. The largest increase was in the petroleum and coal subsector.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 64.8%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months was 94.3%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the February reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.

This flash estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of February, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on April 15.
